Human rights impact assessment, prevention of negative human rights impacts, monitoring of measures, and communication are the four basic elements of human rights due diligence which is at the heart of corporate responsibility. Responsible companies, regardless of its size, industry or local legal requirements, has a duty of due diligence. EU regulation has made the duty of due diligence legally binding, especially for large companies and their supply chains.
Properly conducted HRDD process meets the requirements of human rights regulation (including EU regulation) on corporate responsibility for human rights, and at the same time creates a systematic structure for corporate human rights work.
We provide a combination of regulatory expertise and practical business oriented perspective by conducting the HRIA and HRDD projects in cooperation with Merja Pentikäinen from Opinio Juris Oy.
The project report provides the company with a comprehensive description and background of its human rights risks. The participative approach we use to conduct the project leaves the company with increased competences to update the human rights impact assessment independently in the future.
